OVERVIEW
Make Works is two things; a factory finding website, and a network bringing together factory finders from across the world.
CHALLENGE
Make Works initially got in touch with us to look at alternative funding models for the platform. In the past few years our role has grown and developed into a stewardship of the platform and network alongside IAAC in Barcelona.
APPROACH
After mapping out crowdfunding options for Make Works, we worked with them to launch a Patreon in 2016 - one of the first UK companies to use the platform. We advised on best practices, supported copywriting and helped select reward levels. We also planned and implemented a full press launch looping in and working alongside their large scale funders Creative Scotland.
We continued to work with Make Works to support and grow their online community until 2018. We managed a project alongside V&A Dundee to map the makers featured in their gift shop.
Since 2018, as part of Creative Europe we have been promoting Make Works through talks and creating case studies and toolkits for its members.
IMPACT
Make Works was able to fund its ongoing overheads through its Patreon, until it found it’s permanent home in IAAC Barcelona.
